Frequently asked questions
How do I make an appointment?
It's best to set up a consultation so you and I can go over your idea, look at where the tattoo is going and take measurements. This is only really needed for gap filler projects or tattoos larger than your palm. From there we can go over design and general pricing. The consult will end with you placing a non refundable deposit or information how to do so in the future. The deposit will come off of the end of your tattoo and secures your place in my books. A deposit is required to book a tattoo.
Art will not be sent out before the appointment. Any small edits can be made the day of your appointment, any large edits will require a reschedule with your deposit rolling to the next appointment.
I am currently $150 an hour with the shop minimum being $100
Half day (4hrs) is $500 flat (Save $100)
Full day (8hrs) is $1000 flat (Save $200)
For flat prices you must request a half or full day tattoo in your tattoo request. These flat prices do include stenciling time, break time, etc. This in mind however I do try to be conscientious of your time and money!
I do not do tap-out sessions.
How old do I need to be to get tattooed?
You MUST be 18 in order to be tattooed in the state of Georgia. No exceptions.
I’ve never been tattooed before, what can I expect?
Getting tattooed for the first time is always a nerve-racking process, and I'm here to make it as comfortable as possible. I recommend that you eat and have plenty of sugar in your system before your appointment to avoid any issues that may arise. Many people compare getting tattooed to a constant cat scratch or a sun burn, and the painful spots all differ for everyone!
Typical tattoo appointment etiquette includes:
-Showering the morning of your appointment
-Wearing deodorant
-Don't wear a strong perfume or cologne
-Wear clothing that makes it easy to get to the location the tattoo will be going. For example if you are getting a back tattoo or sternum piece, having a zip-up hoodie or button down shirt is helpful
-Show up on time, not early or late
-Bring any comfort items with you, these can be headphones, stuffed animals, blankets or a book
-You must bring your government or Military I.D. to every appointment
-Cash payments are preferred but I do take card which includes a card processing fee
-Absolutely no one under the age of 18 is to be brought with you
-You can bring one guest with you
-Tipping is appreciated but not required
What happens if I miss my appointment or I need to reschedule?
I require people to reschedule their appointments within 48 hours of their appointment. If you fail to do so the deposit will be forfeit and you will be required to place another deposit for another appointment. No call no shows after 30 minutes of your scheduled appointment time will also render your deposit forfeit.
The best thing to do in these circumstances is to message me or call the shop, life happens and I'm willing to work with you to give you the best experience I can!
Are the materials used in my Tattoo vegan friendly?
I take everyone into consideration for the tattoo process. You can be assured that all of my products used in the process are vegan. I also do not use latex gloves.
Please be aware that second skin/tagaderm/saniderm has latex and adhesives in it and so if you are sensitive to these I do not recommend healing your tattoo with this option
Do you sell numbing cream/Can I use numbing cream?
I nor the studio sells numbing cream. I would prefer you didn't use it, but I am alright with you showing up with it on. Read your directions carefully and do a patch test BEFORE your appointment.
Please be aware numbing cream may have an effect on the way your tattoo heals, this can include color patchiness or unexpected healing.
Keep in mind states like Michigan and Oregon have outlawed OTC numbing creams and sprays due to the health risks. Consider looking up Lidocaine Toxicity and make a decision based on your research.
What is the best way to take care of my tattoo?
Temporary bandage (Cling wrap or tattoo armor) AFTERCARE:
Within 1-4 hours of getting the tattoo:
- Wash hands, remove bandage, hand wash tattoo with lukewarm water & mild soap
- Rinse well with cool water & blot with a disposable paper towel
- Let tattoo air dry about 5 minutes
- Use a SMALL dab of ointment, such as Aquaphor, dab off excess. Use just enough to make it shiny, not greasy or wet. Do not use any petroleum based ointments or lotions like Vaseline or Neosporin. These clog the pores and suffocate your tattoo
- If your tattoo is still leaking or moist when you go to bed the first night, you can rebandage while you sleep but IMMEDIATELY take it off the day after your tattoo and wash it. DO NOT rebandage the tattoo, your skin needs to breathe. Wear loose fitting clothing that does not rub or chafe over the tattoo.
- Always wash your hands before washing the tattoo and never use any scrubbing cloths or loofahs
Day 2-4:
- Fresh tattoos can weep excess ink & liquid for a few days
- Dab off any excess liquid with a clean paper towel, clean & apply ointment/lotion
- Wash and apply ointment/lotion at least 2x a day
- Wash the tattoo any time it starts to get crusty
- Use a dab of ointment/lotion on clean fingers any time the tattoo feels dry & tight
Day 5+:
- Stop using ointment
- Your tattoo should have light flaky scabs like a minor scrape or scratch
- Keep tattoo clean & let it peel by itself. (Usually takes about 2 weeks)
- DO NOT pick, scratch or rub at the tattoo. Light slaps help with the itching
- Moisturize lightly with a lightweight unscented lotion
- No soaking, swimming, direct sun, sun tanning in a bed OR self tanner for 2 weeks
Second skin/Saniderm/Tagaderm AFTERCARE:
- The first application of the bandage will stay on for 24hours from when I put it on you at the end of your appointment
- Take the bandage off under lukewarm running water either in the sink or in the shower. Pull from one corner away from your body OR pull one corner over itself and up across the rest of the bandage. Go slowly.
- Clean your hands with antibacterial unscented soap, then wash your tattoo with the same soap using only your hands.
-Pat dry your tattoo with a disposable paper towel
-Ensure your tattoo is bone dry before applying the new bandage. DO NOT APPLY OINTMENT/LOTION
-Apply your second bandage over the tattoo ensuring there is a border around the tattoo. You may need someone's help with this. Ensure their hands are clean.
- You can keep the bandage on for a maximum of 3-5 days.
- You can work and shower as you would normally, but do not sweat excessively or submerge the bandage in water such as a bath or swimming.
- It is normal to see a build up of fluid under the bandage. This is blood, plasma and ink. Do not push the fluid or pierce the bandage as you will expose the tattoo to bacteria if the bandage is kept on after piercing.
- If the bandage begins to leak, you must remove it and can reapply a new bandage if you are within three days of having gotten the tattoo
- Causes for concern are swelling, redness, itchiness or bumps around or underneath the bandage. Remove if any of these happen and start standard aftercare.
- If at any point your bandage peels to the point of exposing the tattoo, or fills up with foreign liquid (such as from the shower). Remove the bandage completely and start standard aftercare.
- It is recommended to take the bandage off under running water with clean hands.
- Remove slowly from the skin until it has completely been removed.
- Ripping of the bandage may occur if you are not being gentle enough.
- Extra adhesive may be left on the skin after removal. Do not scrub at this as you may cause abrasions and infection to the tattoo. Simply let it come off on its own.
- Once the bandage is removed, pat dry using a paper towel and moisturize the tattoo with a lightweight unscented lotion. Do this any time the tattoo may feel dry or tight and do not rewrap the tattoo.
